My Top Five: July 1st, 2015

Hello loves and happy Wednesday! Today I finally had a day off of work because I had some appointments to go to, and of course I woke up with a random summer cold. So since I’ve been in bed or at the doctor’s office basically all day today, I haven’t been looking super presentable. That being said, I’m going to share with you my top five outfits from Pintrest and different bloggers from this week! I’ve been really into a more laid back and easy summer look with pops of color or a statement piece lately, and I’m sure my picks will express that very clearly.

I’m seriously obsessed with this last outfit, and given the right occasion and place to purchase it, I would rock the heck out of that. On that note, have a fabulous day and I’ll talk to you again on Friday!

My Top Five: June 22nd, 2015

Hello loves and welcome to another week! I now fully understand an appreciate the dread of getting back to the grind on Mondays, so for today’s post, I’d like to inspire you to lighten up (literally) with kind of a Challenge Monday/My Top Five combo.

This weekend one of my favorite you-tubers got married and it was seriously the most gorgeous wedding ever. Alexandrea Garza, or now Alex Maddalena, is who I’m referring to. Check her out on YouTube and check our her Instagram for a few snaps from the wedding! But anyway, what that has to do with this post, and the fact that yesterday was the first day of summer, is that this week’s top five are all white outfits. Inspired of course by summer and the lovely Maddalena wedding!

I hope this brightens up your Monday a little big, even if it only brightened up the hue of your computer or phone screen for a bit, I have done by job. Now go out and tackle this week, and have a fabulous day!

Outfit of the Week: June 12, 2015

Hello loves! For the summer time, I’m going to be switching my outfits of the week to outfit of the week. I’m working at a summer camp this summer and we’re required to wear athletic shorts, the camp shirt and tennis shoes everyday, so I don’t think that would be too interesting. That being said, I’ll still be bringing you at least one outfit every week, whether that be on Wednesday’s or Friday’s. So with all that, let’s jump into my outfit for the week!

My top is from J.Crew factory, and I love the sporty vibe it gives off. My jeans are my new favorite Rag and Bone jeans, I’m seriously in love. My sandals are my favorites by Libby Edleman. My Alex and Ani bracelets are of course my go-to, along with my Kendra Scott earrings which I finally got fixed! I absolutely love this outfit for just running errands or something casual with friends. Have a fabulous weekend!!

Also, total side note, but does anyone know where I could get this shirt, or a version of it? I found it on Pintrest and am obsessed but there no link! Email me or comment below if you know, I would be forever grateful to ya!

And on that note, I’m going to go to work, instead of enjoy a wonderful brunch… Oh well, have a fabulous day!

The Perfect Jeans

For as long as I can remember, jean shopping has always been one of the most stressful experiences I’ve put myself through. And I think this is true for most women, unless you found the brand of jeans that was made for you on the first try, then you’ve been blessed. In middle school and the beginning of high school, I always wore American Eagle jeans, because that was the cool thing to do and Abercrombie jeans were uncomfortably tight in my opinion. My AE jeans rode much too low to actually stay on my hips, so I’d be yanking them up all day. They wore out rather quickly, and to be honest, weren’t always the most flattering. I still have one surviving pair from those years: my black skinnies, and I still have to yank them up constantly when I wear them. After that phase I moved onto trying to buy nicer jeans, and on a shopping trip to a Chicago outlet mall, my mom bought me three pairs of Joe’s Jeans. They were a higher rise and I was ecstatic at first, this meant no more constant pulling at my belt loops. But this also meant I would end up with dye from the jeans which would ruin my favorite purse. I also ripped one pair of my jeans right across the knee, rather randomly at school. And about six months after the knee rip, I ripped a another pair of my Joe’s Jeans… Right across the butt. At school. Needless to say, I haven’t purchased any more Joe’s Jeans. Next I moved onto Gap jeans, which I still have and wear a lot. I loved Gap’s Jegging Jeans because they were incredibly stretchy and comfortable to wear. But within about 5 months, they were so stretched out that after one wear, they didn’t fit and I was pulling them up constantly. After all these failures, I finally bit the bullet and invested in some high quality jeans during the last Nordstrom sale. I was incredibly nervous, and was 99% sure I wouldn’t possibly have ordered the right brand to fit my body, or the right size online without trying them on, but I did. I found the perfect pair of jeans. Rag and Bone skinny jeans. They’re amazing. Obviously, I haven’t put them through the whole long-term-relationship test, but that will come. They fit like a glove. They’re stretchy, without stretching out so much that they become baggy after one wear. They stay on my hips, and are a little higher rise so nothing is hanging out. They flatter the areas I am most self conscious about, and I’ve seriously never been so excited about a pair of jeans. I’ll link them here so you can check them out, but that being said, they might not be the perfect jeans for you. I know this post is sort of random, but I  wanted to write it more as a piece of encouragement. Jean shopping can be a real blow to the self esteem. Having to go up a size, going to 10 stores and finding nothing that fits, feeling fat, feeling to skinny, feeling like you want to melt into the floor at some points, but when you find the perfect pair of jeans that make you feel like you can conquer the world? Well it makes it all worth it, maybe… But jeans are a staple in everyone’s wardrobe so this fate cannot be avoided. And for real, finding a pair that makes you look amazing, that’s a huge boost to the self esteem. So keep bringing 12 pairs to the dressing room with you at Macy’s, and don’t feel bad about yourself if none of them fit. Different brands design their jeans to fit differently, and each and every one of us has our own unique body shape and size, and that brand may not fit you, and that’s ok. Eventually you’ll come across a great fit and brand, and buy a ton of those! Then once you have a few pairs you know make your butt look fabulous, branch out and try some boyfriend jeans from that brand or some flares, see how you feel about them. Fashion is all about feeling good and confident in what your’e wearing, so don’t throw in the towel just yet if you struggle with finding the perfect jeans. It took me almost a year of trying on jeans on every shopping trip to find some that fit just right. You got this. :)

WIWW: June 3, 2015

Hello loves! Happy Wednesday! It’s time once again for another What I Wore Wednesday post! And my apologies for such bad picture quality, I’m working on getting a better camera and such for the blog, but for now we will deal with my ancient one. Today’s outfit is my “brave doctor going outfit” because I hate going to the doctor more than anything, so if I look nice when I go, it makes it a little more bearable. My dress is a new purchase from Loft (which is 40% off today, so you should seriously take a look at their site.) I’m obsessed with this tangerine kind of orange color, it is the epitome of summer. It pairs perfectly with my new favorite set of necklaces from Ann Taylor along with the matching turquoise earrings, of course. I’m also rocking my new favorite gladiator sandals from Vince Camuto. I also threw on my American Eagle denim jacket as it was a little chilly this morning. I feel like this dress will be my go to for this summer as it’s light weight, modest, and also has a super cute triangle cutout on the lower back.

I hope you guys enjoyed this outfit and are having as great spring weather wherever you are as I am here! Have a fabulous day!

Challenge Monday: June 1, 2015

Hello loves! It feels like forever since I’ve done a Challenge Monday, so it was definitely time to do another one. The purpose behind Challenge Monday is to give you guys a little bit of inspiration or a little push to try something new with your outfits. I know personally, I feel like I end up wearing the same basic uniform almost all the time, and it’s nice to have ideas and a little inspiration to spice it up once in awhile! That being said, today’s Challenge Monday has kind of a funny story behind it. My best friend Jenna, who’s style is amazing, but anyway, she has never owned converse before. (Now would be the appropriate time to gasp, as a teenage girl without converse is like a PB&J without peanut butter.) And she finally, finally got some this weekend. Black high tops to be exact, and I couldn’t be more proud. So to celebrate, your challenge this week is to put together a look that incorporates sneakers into a non-gym-going outfit. This means no yoga pants and sweatshirt combo, NONE. To help you out in this endeavor, I’ve put together a few tips and tricks to help you out. (As always, all photos are from Pinterest.)

Tip No. 1: If the whole throwing on your gym shoes with jeans and a t-shirt sounds just awful and all kinds of wrong to you, do not fret, I gotcha covered. For those of you who want to ease into this style, might I suggest some type of slide? For example, a Vans slide, which are super popular. Slides have the same comfort of sneakers, without the laced up look and at a glance look like super comfy loafers. This will ease you into the laid back look of wearing actual sneakers once you feel comfortable.

{See, just like a pair of black flats but 10X more comfy.}

{Oh, well hello there beautiful snakeskin that’s popping against this chill outfit.}

Tip No. 2: (This is more like my own personal rule so you don’t look like you were running late and grabbed your sneakers instead of your heels when you were running out the door, but we’ll call it tip no. 2 because that sounds so much nicer.) At least 1 other main piece in your outfit needs to have a clearly casual vibe. So no, your silk t-shirt doesn’t count. For example, if your favorite outfit is a blazer, tank, and jeans, try pairing your distressed light wash jeans with sneakers. And if you want bonus points, go for a looser tank as well to add to the casual vibe. This helps your look be more cohesive. When playing with juxtaposition in fashion, it’s extremely important to have at the very least one other component that plays well with the piece you are putting on display, which in this case would be your sneakers. If that was too much for you to handle, here are some examples:

 {While the leather look pants and button down are more formal, the distressed denim jacket and loose hair brings it down a notch.}

{The loose v-neck tee ripped skinniest pair well with the sneakers, while her long coat and clutch step this up a notch.}

Tip No. 3: If all else fails, try all black, or almost all black and throw on your sneakers. This automatically gives you a cohesive look, and makes your sneakers the focal point of your outfit. (Unless your sneakers are also black, then you’re rocking the monochromatic look, which is one of my personal favorites.)

{This is totally chic because of the different shapes she’s wearing, which they’re still all black.}

 {I’m actually obsessed with this outfit. The red beanie popping against her shoes is everything.}
I hope you’ve found these tips helpful and will try out this look. And even if you only wear it around the house at first, having an outfit focused around practical and comfy shoes that are actually good for your feet is something I’m a huge advocate of. (And how many super models rock this on a regular basis? I’m looking’ at you Kendall Jenner.) TRY IT. OK? ok. Have a fabulous day!

High School Graduation

Hello loves! Happy Tuesday, I took the day off yesterday since it was a national holiday and all, and to just relax after this weekend. Because this weekend… I graduated from high school! I’m so thankful for the four years I got to spend in high school, and the friends I’ve made but I’m also very excited to move onto the next stage of my life! So today’s post is kind of more of a life post that I can look back on, with photos and what I wore for my graduation. Let’s hop in, shall we?

{and yes, I do have girlfriends, but their mom’s brought actual cameras so all our photos are on there. I’ll add them to this post as soon as I get copies! All my guy friend’s moms were using their phones for pictures too, so that’s why I only have those for now.}

My dress is from Saks Off Fifth by the brand Kenzie (I got it for 40% off!) My necklaces are all from Ann Taylor, and were also 40% off, I layered 3 of them together and am obsessed with this stack. My gladiators are my new favorites by Vince Camuto which I found at Nordstrom Rack. I was super happy with how my outfit turned out, I didn’t have heels to trip on and my dress fit perfectly and was super comfy.

Tune back in tomorrow for a post about how I manage my curly hair! And thanks again for following along with me through all the fashion and beauty posts, as well as the more meaningful ones like this one. It really means a lot to me! Have a fabulous day!

My Top Five: May 21st, 2015

Hello loves! I haven’t done a My Top Five in a few weeks, and I can’t believe I haven’t! One of my favorite things to do is search Pintrest and scour blogs for the best outfit inspiration. To me, these aren’t always 100% attainable looks, but most the time I like to use them as inspiration to create my own interpretation of the outfit. That being said, let’s jump into my top five looks for this week!
