Bible Study Tuesdays

Hello loves! Happy Friday! We’ve made it to the end of another week! Today I wanted to chat with you about something I want to start incorporating into my blog schedule: Bible Study Tuesdays. One of my favorite bloggers, Chronicles of Frivolity, is going to start doing this on her site and I wanted to jump on the band wagon. To start off with I’ll be doing the same book as her, Jesus Is by Judah Smith. I was really inspired by the post she wrote on the subject and really identified with is as a fellow Christian blogger. I’ll link her post here, but I’ll give you a little bit of my take-away too. In her post, she explained how it can get rather difficult to have Christ be a part of our everyday lives. It’s easy to pray on Saturday, go to church on Sunday and then forget about it for the rest of the week. We have to make an effort to seek God in our daily lives. So whether that means taking a week day where you are going to not focus on fashion, or work, or your favorite TV shows and just focus on time with God. Or whether that means getting a really good daily devotional to start your day with. One of my personal favorite daily devotionals it the Jesus Calling devotional, which is available at Barnes and Noble. The one I’m using this year is called Savor by Shauna Niequist. Savor is more of a lifestyle devotional, where Jesus Calling is definitely a more direct from the Bible take on life. So all that being said, I’m going to start doing a weekly Bible Study post on Tuesday’s. Please feel free to comment, share with your friends, or email me with any questions you have or issues you’d like to talk about. I’d love to chat with you guys about that! (My email is in my about page, but it’s I hope you guys are as excited about this as I am, and have a fabulous weekend!

PS If you wanna keep up on the Bible Study, in Tuesday’s post we’ll begin covering chapters 1-3 in Jesus Is so I’d encourage you to head over to your local Barnes and Noble and set aside a little time to start reading this weekend!

Summer Makeup Routine

Hello loves! As the weather begins to get hotter and insanely humid out, I’m forced to change out a few of my makeup products to insure my makeup doesn’t smear down my face from the heat. So today I’ll be sharing with you my summer makeup routine step by step.

No. 1: Moisturizer. Even though it’s hot and sticky out, it’s still important to keep your skin hydrated. I like to use my First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Face Moisturizer and my Origins GinZing eye cream. These are both super light weight products, but they’re still amazing moisturizers.

No. 2: Face Products. I’m still obsessed with my Too Faced Tinted Beauty Balm. It stays on all day, evens out my skin tone AND has sunscreen build in. What more could a girl ask for? I apply the Beauty Balm with my fingers, after I’ve washed them of course. I cover any blemishes that still show through with my Laura Mercier Creamy Concealer, which I apply with my beauty blender. I also like to use this to cover any dark circles. I set my T-zone and under-eye area with my Clinique translucent powder to keep everything in place during the day. I apply this with a big powder brush from Eco Tools, my favorite brand of brushes.

No. 3: Color. Now that I’m sufficiently pale and colorless, let’s add some bronzer, blush and highlighter. First I apply my Nars Laguna bronzer in a 3 shape on each side of my face. I use a L’Bri brush I’ve had forever for this, probably need to get a new one of those soon. Next I apply my Hourglass Ambient Light blush in Diffused Heat and apply that with my Eco Tools blush brush. Then I apply a subtle highlight to my cheekbones, down the bridge of my nose and on my cupid’s bow. I like using my Too faced Candlelight Glow with a slanted Bare Minerals brush. Between these three products, I look like a living and healthy human being again, which is always a plus.

No. 3: Eyes and such. Next it’s time to get my brows looking good. I absolutely love my Anistasia Brow Pencil in Medium Brown. I have no idea why this pencil is so much better than every other brow pencil, but it is. And it lasts forever! (Unlike those tiny thin pencils that last a week.) I’ve switched over to using waterproof mascera now that it’s summer, to avoid the whole smeared look. I’ve been loving the Maybelline Rocket Volume mascera for this. If I have something nicer that day, I’ll add on a little of my Stila crayon eyeliner in Spice, but otherwise I usually just rock some mascera.

If I really have something nice to do, I also pop on a little bit of the Bare Minerals lip gloss in Marvelous Moxi. I love this color, it’s natural yet still looks like you put in a bit of effort.

And that’s my finished summer look! I hope you guys enjoy this! I also promise this look takes me at the most 10 min to do, I know I talked you through all the specifics so it probably seemed longer. Let me know your go to summer makeup product in the comments below! Have a fabulous day!

Desk Envy

Hello loves! As I get more and more into this blogging thing, I’m realizing a couple things. One being I seriously need a better camera, and the second thing being that I definitely need some cooler jeans. But never fear, I’m working on getting a new camera and I quite literally just ordered some Rag and Bone jeans that are on there way to my house. (I’m patiently anxiously waiting for those to arrive.) The third and final thing I’ve noticed, is I need to step up my desk game. Have you seen some posts of blogger’s desks? My gosh! They’re immaculate, and perfectly laid out. And there are SO many gold staplers. Seriously, are people using these? Do people who are out of college find the need to staple things? I thought that once I graduate I will never be stapling anything ever again. Although there are far too many beautiful, probably unused staplers out there, I still have major desk envy and will be working to organize and accessorize my desk to match that of my fellow bloggers out there. But before I get my stuff together, let’s take a moment to appreciate the beautiful desks of bloggers I’ve found via Pintrest, shall we?

Seriously. Gah, if only my desk could look something like one of these. A few trends I’m noticing are:

You need a really good desk chair. Like do not slack in this department. White desks also seem to help with the whole keeping things neat look. (Probably why my black desk looks is so messy, right? Right.) You also need a cup or mug of an extreme amount of pencils or pens. A few desk accessories like gold scissors or a lucite tape dispenser. A vase with flowers, a lamp for lighting, and lastly some type of fashion inspired accessory. Whether that means a fun piece of pop art or a pair of shoes used as a decor piece. Oh, and a Mac. (If that’s in your budget of course.) All very simple things us common folk can add to our existing desks to try to imitate these beauties. Here are some close-ups with a little more detail of specific accessories:

I hope you guys have enjoyed this little desk inspiration post and maybe you can do a little spring/summer cleaning up of your own desk space! Hopefully within the next few months I’ll have my desk situation all taken care of, you know, just in time to leave for college. Anyway, have a fabulous day!

High School Graduation

Hello loves! Happy Tuesday, I took the day off yesterday since it was a national holiday and all, and to just relax after this weekend. Because this weekend… I graduated from high school! I’m so thankful for the four years I got to spend in high school, and the friends I’ve made but I’m also very excited to move onto the next stage of my life! So today’s post is kind of more of a life post that I can look back on, with photos and what I wore for my graduation. Let’s hop in, shall we?

{and yes, I do have girlfriends, but their mom’s brought actual cameras so all our photos are on there. I’ll add them to this post as soon as I get copies! All my guy friend’s moms were using their phones for pictures too, so that’s why I only have those for now.}

My dress is from Saks Off Fifth by the brand Kenzie (I got it for 40% off!) My necklaces are all from Ann Taylor, and were also 40% off, I layered 3 of them together and am obsessed with this stack. My gladiators are my new favorites by Vince Camuto which I found at Nordstrom Rack. I was super happy with how my outfit turned out, I didn’t have heels to trip on and my dress fit perfectly and was super comfy.

Tune back in tomorrow for a post about how I manage my curly hair! And thanks again for following along with me through all the fashion and beauty posts, as well as the more meaningful ones like this one. It really means a lot to me! Have a fabulous day!

A Day of Food

Hello loves! I was recently watching a YouTube video about how to create good content for your readers: make it something you would want to see. For some reason this opened my eyes to new horizons. So for today’s post, I decided to try something that has become more popular on YouTube lately, a “What I Ate Today” kind of video. This is not meant to be “that person” that calls to tell you everything they ate that day, it’s more of a “hey, here are some healthy meals I’ve been loving lately that you might wanna try out too.” So hopefully you all like this! On that note, let’s start off the day!

Breakfast: I had a package of McCann’s Irish Oatmeal in the apple cinnamon flavor. It is 130 calories, which isn’t bad for a super filling breakfast. I also had some peach ginger tea from the Republic of Tea with a dash of honey, which is about 60 calories for the honey.

Lunch: 4oz of steak, brown rice and sautéed vegetables. Sugar snap peas, red bell peppers, zucchini, broccoli, brussel sprouts, and carrots. I absolutely love sautéed vegetables and they reheat really well for meals through out the week. According to my Fitbit, the total calories of this portion is about 380 calories.

Afternoon Snack: blueberries and light Babybell cheese. Which is about 85 calories, not bad for a quick and easy snack!

Dinner: gluten free bread, toasted, with crunchy peanut butter from Peanut Butter and Co. (their peanut butter is what dreams are made of.) I sliced up a pear and a chunk of watermelon to go with it for a light but filling dinner. According to my Fitbit food log, this meal is about 445 calories.

Evening Snack: I am that person who has to have a snack sometime after dinner. I’m never super hungry at dinner, but later I’m starving. I try to keep this snack relatively light, like tonight for example, I’m having some all natural popcorn by Orville Redenbacher. And according to my Fitbit, this is about 110 calories.

I hope you guys have enjoyed today’s post, I’d love some feedback on if you want to see this again or what to do differently, so let me know in the comments! Have a fabulous day!xoxo,

Prom Planning

Hello loves! I wanted to do a quick life post because tomorrow is my senior prom! How did we get to this time of the year already? I’m finally starting to get nostalgic about high school ending in less than 30 days… And also kind of freaking out about it. That being said, let’s have a little pre-prom chat about all the prom details for this weekend.

To start off with, I had to plan prom for my school. Yes, you read that correctly. Yes, it was stressful, thanks for asking. But so far, with the help of many people along the way (special shout out to my mom) everything is in place. I chose the theme of Around the World, and let me tell you, it’s going to look awesome. We got large 3D versions of the Effiel Tower, Big Ben, a Japanese Pagoda, the Statue of Liberty, and a huge compas to use at decoration. To go along with this theme, I chose our color scheme to be royal blue, gold and white. The royal blue kind of ties in the ocean and the gold ties in the old maps look. For our centerpieces we got yellow and white daisies and are having flags in each flower arrangement as well. I chose our venue to be at a public gardens, in their beautiful atrium and banquet hall. For food, we’re having a buffet. I thought this would be simpler since, well high school kids can eat a lot, so this way no one will go hungry. We are catering in a choice of tenderloin in a bourbon sauce or chicken with a wine sauce served with sautéed vegetables, garlic mashed potatoes, green salad, fruit salad and a chocolate fountain to top it all off. (SO excited for the delicious food.) To add some memorable moments to the night, I also found a little extra money in the budget to fund a photo booth! We did this last year and it was an absolute blast, I highly recommend it for any large gathering. Pulling this all together was not an easy task, but one I learned a lot from and am so proud of. Oh, and did I mention the invitations look like passports? I am beyond happy and thankful for the opportunity to be able to do this for my school and for my class! I will definitely be doing a post this coming Monday on pictures from the dance and details on what I wore. Have a fabulous weekend and tune back in Monday for that post!

Planter DIY

Hello loves! As spring approaches, I get more and more excited for the new things it brings. Especially when it comes to beautiful flowers. So today I wanted to share with you one way I’m getting excited for spring, and making a planter. So let’s jump into this!

First off, here’s what you’ll need:

No. 1: Planter.

No. 2: Rocks. (for drainage)

No. 3: Potting Soil.

No. 4: Flowers of Your Choice. (make sure they’re all the same sun vs shade ratio, it should say this on the card that is on each plant)

No. 5: Gardening Gloves.

No. 6: Small Gardening Shovel.

No. 7: Water or Watering Can. (not pictured)

Just for reference, here are close ups and the name of all the plants I used for my planter:

Now for the actual gardening part. First layer some of your small stones on the bottom of your planter. This helps with drainage so that all the water doesn’t immediately run out the bottom before the plants can use it.

Next take some of your potting soil and layer that over the stones. You’re going to want to kind of measure how much dirt your plants need under them so that they sit even with the top of the planter. So pour a little dirt in, set a plant in to measure height, poor little more dirt in and ect. For this planter, I didn’t need very much because my plants were pretty deep, and the planter wasn’t terribly tall.

Next, simply add in your larger plants. Arrange them to your liking and then fill in the sides with more dirt. I didn’t fill mine up with dirt all the way to the top in the places where I wanted to put my smaller white flowers. I then placed them into any empty spaces as fillers and finished filling up the planter with potting soil.

Then douse your plant with water, you want to give it a generous amount for this initial watering. Moving it around a lot and the potting soil not being at all damp, this little guy is going to need some extra help to get started with. Then simply place in either sun or shade (whichever type of flowers you picked) and water every other day to every two days.

And voila! Your beautiful spring planter is complete, now you can sit back and enjoy your hard work! {This would also be a great Mother’s Day gift or activity, or a great weekend project.} On that note, I hope you all have a fabulous weekend!
