How To: Remove Pit Stains

Hello loves! As I’ve been getting ready to leave for college, I’ve been going through all my clothes and packing. During this process I realized that my favorite J.Crew white t-shirt had absolutely disgusting pit stains.

GROSS. So today I wanted to share with you all how to remove any staining on your white shirts! Let’s get started with what you’ll need:

1 cup of vinegar, 1/2 cup baking soda, 1 Tablespoon of salt and 1 Tablespoon of hydrogen peroxide are what you’ll need.

First soak the shirt in 1 cup of vinegar and 2 cups of water, or a 2:1 ratio of water and vinegar. Let the shirt soak in this mixture for 30 minutes.

After the shirt is done soaking, make a paste of your 1/2 cup of baking soda, 1 Tablespoon of salt and 1 Tablespoon of hydrogen peroxide. Remove the shirt from the water-vinager mixture and gently squeeze most of the water out. While the shirt is still damp, spread paste on the stains and let sit for 30 minutes.

After that 30 minutes you can rinse it out and toss into your regular wash with laundry detergent of your choice. (I suggest having a load ready to go so the wet shirt won’t sit for an extended amount of time and get a musty smell.) Here’s a before and after shot, my shirt is now looking good as new!

I hope this trick was helpful for you guys! I know it saved my favorite shirt, so I love it! Have a fabulous day!

Important Jewels

Hello loves! Today I have an exciting post for you because I’m partnering with Invaluable, the world’s premiere online auction marketplace. At Invaluable you can buy jewelry, fine art, collectibles and more. They have some amazing jewelry on their site and have asked me to share some of my favorite pieces with you all today.

First off is probably one of my most prized possessions. My grandmother gave me this charm bracelet, and added new charms each year. And each charm has a special meeting between her and I. For example, the bell represents her bell collection that I got to admire every time I visited her. I usually only wear it around the holidays since it’s rather gaudy, but I love it just the same.

The next piece I wanted to share with you guys was this ring that my grandma bought my mom. She then passed it down to me and I absolutely love it. I wear it almost everyday and even bought my Pandora rings to match it. It means a lot to me because it shows my Irish roots, while also being passed down through generations. (Sidetone, I have no idea what this is made out of, I’m fairly certain it’s not sterling silver, but whatever it is makes it indestructible.)

My last piece to share with you all today are my absolute favorite earrings, I wear them at least 4 times a week. It’s kind of a problem, but they’re beautiful so not really. My dad gave me these Kendra Scott earrings for Christmas last year and I love them. I’m considering getting them in Rose Gold soon too. I just love how laid back and stylish they are.

I hope you’ve enjoyed today’s post! And a huge thank you to Invaluable for partnering with me on this post! What is your most valued piece of jewelry? Let me know in the comments below. Have a fabulous day!

BaubleBar Service: Rant

Hello loves! So I recently placed an order on BaubleBar.com. I was super excited to see some lovely jewelry that was highly recommended and supposedly high quality. I ordered a pair of tassel earrings that I was super excited about (and caused me to place the order) and I had planned one of my sorority event night outfits around them. The image online showed a pair of antiqued gold earrings with white gems around the stud and baby pink beaded tassels. I was so excited to receive them! 3 days after I placed the order I received an email from a member of their “SWAT” team, no clue what that means, saying that there had been a mistake with the picture online compared to the actual earrings. I was sent what seemed to be a picture taken on a phone of a pair of earrings with light gray stones and asked by this “SWAT” team member if I would still like the earrings and encouraged to take them as they’d be “perfect for fall.” Here’s a comparison of the two side by side:

I chose not to get them because I really wasn’t a fan of the lack of contrast and the cloudy coloring on the gray earrings. My account was refunded immediately for the price of the earrings, which I appreciated. But the thing is, I ordered some other things from the site 8 days ago and have just received them. Yet BaubleBar guarantee’s 3-5 day shipping. There is also no apparent way to track where my package was at any time during transit, so for awhile there I assumed it had been lost in the mail. The rest of my order consisted of the Meteorite Stud Trio of earrings, which I thought resembled my favorite Kendra Scott earrings from the photos online. After receiving the actual product, I am very sad to report that they look like rocks someone found and glued to posts with little to no shine unless placed in direct sunlight. Here’s the image online and here is an image of what I actually received:

I’m in my perfect right to say these look slightly less appealing in person, right?

Next up in the line of fire, was an awesome bracelet set where you got to choose your own three bracelets for a set. I was stoked about this. Here are the three I ordered:

IMG_0373 IMG_0363 IMG_0366

I loved how they looked together, and I was a huge fan of the gold bracelet covered in tassels. (Tassels are my favorite.) BUT the pink threaded cuff is TINY. I mean tiny. And I have average to small wrists, but this cuff is so tight on me that if I move my arm in anyway, it twists and presses against one of the two larger bones in my wrist. Whichever way I move my hand, it digs in on the opposite side into that bone. And since the bracelets are technically a set, I can’t return just one of them, so they all had to go back. I mean “beauty is pain” but not every time you move.

To say the least, I am not pleased with the color mix up, which they STILL have not removed from their site more than 10 days later. So anyone who attempts to order this color in the earrings must be receiving the same issue. Is it that difficult to change the image or take it down once you’re aware there is an issue? I think not. I’m also very upset that $75+ of my purchases where nowhere to be found in the bleak black hole that seems to be their shipping methods for several days. Overall, I am very upset with the way my order has been handled and am less than impressed with the quality of the majority of what I received. I wanted to put this review out there because it took me almost a year to finally order from this site after hearing about it from handfuls of bloggers, whom I’m sure have their needs catered to endlessly to encourage positive reviews. And to be honest, a brand with that much hype should not have a missing package 4 days late or the wrong image on their site. Sorry for the negativity, but MAN did that feel good to get off my chest! I hope you all have a great day and I hope a missing package situation never befalls you!

College: Wardrobe Essentials

Hello loves! As I’m getting ready for college, I’ve been trying to build up a wardrobe that is both comfortable and stylish. (Because we all know you probably won’t want to be in a stiff button down for a three hour class.) So I wanted to share with you some of the things I’ve purchased over the past few months to build up what I think is a versatile wardrobe for everyday life.

My first must have is a Wildfox sweater. I ordered my first Wildfox sweater this summer and OH MY GOODNESS. I cannot handle how soft their sweaters are. I seriously wear mine every night, I am in love. I was wearing the one I had so often that I purchased a second one yesterday actually. Wildfox is known for being on the more expensive side, but if you look on Saks Off 5th or Nordstrom Rack online, they are about half price. (Which is what I recommend.) This is one of the two I own, and it’s $54 at Saks Off Fifth. The other one I purchased was during the Nordstrom Anniversary sale, so it’s full priced again, unfortunately. And I recommend either buying your normal size, and if you are in between sizes to size down because they run a bit oversized.

Another must have comfy top would be an oversized long sleeve shirt. These are seriously one of my favorite things to wear no matter how hot or cold it happens to be. (And these are super great for hot days when you’re going from the humidity into a classroom blasting AC.) I love pairing these year round with Nike shorts or leggings. My favorite long sleeve shirts are the Ivory Ella tops I’ve featured before on the blog. Getting the perfect lounging shirt while supporting a great cause? Um yes.

This brings me to my next must-have: Nike running shorts. I seriously LIVE in these things, all year. It’s becoming a serious issue. That being said, I’ve tried out other brands and I always come back to these. They are both comfortable and flattering, and what more could a girl ask for?

My second choice of bottoms would have to be Fabletics leggings. I purchased an outfit from their online site, and was blown away by the incredible quality of their leggings. I actually prefer them to my Victoria’s Secret ones which were almost twice the price. The Fabletics leggings are thick and hold their shape beautifully, while making your assets look amazing.

Since you’ll probably be doing a lot of walking around campus, comfortable shoes are a must. These Nike Roshe’s are my absolute favorite. They’re incredibly comfortable and they have an array of colors. I’m more of a black or red sneakers type of girl, so I love my black ones, but for any of you who love a good bright running shoe, they have lots of options!

Something you will seriously need when starting school is a good backpack that will hold all your necessities, while not hurting your back too much. I recently ordered this North Face backpack and I am so pleased! It’s super comfortable and has a super handy spot for your laptop. And if you order it on Amazon, it’s much less expensive that ordering from the actual North Face site.

For now, these are my college class fashion essentials. Would you guys want another must have’s on school supplies? I feel like those are a tad on the boring side sometimes, but I am loving my new planner, so let me know! Have a fabulous day!

Charitable Clothing: Ivory Ella

Hello loves! Happy Monday! Today I wanted to start off the week on a positive note by sharing with you an amazing new charitable organization I’ve discovered. That company is called Ivory Ella, and they design t-shirts featuring adorable elephants which a percentage of their profits go to help. Many of you may have seen this trending on twitter lately, and I thought it was just a cute shirt so I clicked on the link. It turns out it was much more than that! I love doing anything I can to help causes I believe in, even if it doesn’t seem like much, every little bit helps. And the shirts on Ivory Ella are seriously adorable. It took all my will power to only order one to start out with. I chose the lavender long sleeve shirt with a white paisley print on the back and I’m so excited for it to be delivered! Here’s pictures of the exact shirt I ordered, which sadly won’t be here for another couple weeks:

Ivory Ella has a ton of other options online for both women and men. I would really encourage you to check it out, I’ll give you guys an update on how I’m liking the t-shirt once it arrives! Ivory Ella is sadly only doing pre-orders right now, but on a positive note, that means there are tons of people getting involved in this great cause! So the sooner you order, the shorter the wait time! And ps, no Ivory Ella is not sponsoring this post, although that’d be super cool if they did, I’m just super excited about such a great cause and a super cute product!

Here is the link to their website where you can shop and learn more about their mission: Ivory Ella.

Have a fabulous day loves!

Challenge Monday: Mixing Gems

Hello loves and happy Monday! Yay, the start to another incredibly busy week? Are you excited!? Because I’m definitely not… (Bet you were expecting a different answer there, gotcha.) But anyways, one of my favorite things to do recently has been layering super delicate jewelry with more statement peices because why not? And I feel like it easily makes an outfit 10X more interesting, and my outfit I mean the black cotton shift dress I’ve worn the past 3 days in a row. No shame. But through doing that, I’ve been pairing various different statement peices with my new favorite cross necklace from Dogeared at Nordstrom. (Which I’ll link here.) I really wanted a necklace that was dainty, good enough quality to shower in, and boldly (or daintily) show my faith at school. Because that’s an important part of who I am and I wanted it to be noticable upon meeting me! (And yes, a tattoo would’ve been another great option but they STICK NEEDLES INTO YOUR SKIN, so no thank you.) Anyway, ALL of that being said, let’s jump into this week’s Challenge Monday of pairing dainty jewelry with statement pieces.

Oh also, my favorite part of this Challenge Monday is that you pretty much can’t fudge this up. Here’s how to keep it trés chic: stick to one statement jewelry piece in your whole ensemble. Then, whatever other jewelry you add in stays dainty. So for example, pair your statement necklace with dainty rings and simple diamond studs and boom, done. Or your statement earrings with a few layered necklaces that are, what else, dainty and a simple ring. You’ll look fabulous while still being bling-ed out to the max. Here are some of my favorite examples from Pintrest:

I hope this has inspired you to try something new with your accessories! I’ve been absolutely loving doing this myself! Have a fabulous day!

My Top Five: July 1st, 2015

Hello loves and happy Wednesday! Today I finally had a day off of work because I had some appointments to go to, and of course I woke up with a random summer cold. So since I’ve been in bed or at the doctor’s office basically all day today, I haven’t been looking super presentable. That being said, I’m going to share with you my top five outfits from Pintrest and different bloggers from this week! I’ve been really into a more laid back and easy summer look with pops of color or a statement piece lately, and I’m sure my picks will express that very clearly.

I’m seriously obsessed with this last outfit, and given the right occasion and place to purchase it, I would rock the heck out of that. On that note, have a fabulous day and I’ll talk to you again on Friday!

The Rebecca Minkoff

Hello loves! Today I have for you a short story and a tale of a wonderful and beautiful purchase. For about 4 years now (yes, you read that right, 4 years) I have been lusting after a Rebecca Minkoff bag. The style that I have wanted has changed over the years as I did some in depth research on each style. First I wanted a Mini Mac, but then I realized that the entire front pocket is basically useless because the clasp is so hard to undo. So that one was out. Then I wanted the larger 5-Zip. I actually brought home a larger 5-zip from Nordstrom rack for an astounding $170 about 6 months ago, but I realized that it was too big and curved around my hip when I wore it, which made it very difficult to zip and unzip. So I returned that. I had just about given up on my hopes and dreams of finding the perfect, and affordable bag from one of my favorite designers, when this Tuesday I was at TJMaxx with my mom. I was wondering aimlessly through the purse section when I spotted a Rebecca Minkoff bag. I always at least pick it up when I see one at TJMaxx or Nordstrom Rack or Saks Off Fifth to see how pricey it still is or if it could even be practical enough for me to use. So I picked up this mini quilted maroon bag and put if over my shoulder. It was the perfect size and one of my favorite colors is maroon, and when I checked the price it had just gone on clearance for $70, which is unheard of for a Rebecca Minkoff Bag. I ran to show my mom and bought it within the next five minutes. I couldn’t be happier with my purchase and the long long wait made this deal that much sweeter. So today is a moment of history in my life, my first official designer bag. And I’ll probably keep it forever. So if you have your eyes on a specific designer, keep hunting. You’ll find a great bargain someday and it’ll be the sweetest deal ever.

My Top Five: June 22nd, 2015

Hello loves and welcome to another week! I now fully understand an appreciate the dread of getting back to the grind on Mondays, so for today’s post, I’d like to inspire you to lighten up (literally) with kind of a Challenge Monday/My Top Five combo.

This weekend one of my favorite you-tubers got married and it was seriously the most gorgeous wedding ever. Alexandrea Garza, or now Alex Maddalena, is who I’m referring to. Check her out on YouTube and check our her Instagram for a few snaps from the wedding! But anyway, what that has to do with this post, and the fact that yesterday was the first day of summer, is that this week’s top five are all white outfits. Inspired of course by summer and the lovely Maddalena wedding!

I hope this brightens up your Monday a little big, even if it only brightened up the hue of your computer or phone screen for a bit, I have done by job. Now go out and tackle this week, and have a fabulous day!
