Hello loves! As you probably are well aware, Valentine’s Day is next Saturday. Which means, sometime this week or next weekend is the prime time to pamper yourself. Today I’d like to share with you my personal pampering routine for a special event.
To start off with, I love using self tanner. As a relatively fair skinned person, this is crucial to not looking like a ghost in photos. But before we jump into the self tanner, I’d like to recommend my favorite exfoliator, since that is a must before even touching a self tanner. The Body Prep Smoothing Scrub from Victoria’s Secret is my absolute favorite. I use this in the shower right before I self tan. I have been using the St. Tropez self tanner for the past year, and it gives me a very flawless tan, and great color… but… it dyes my sheets every time I use it, which I am not happy about. One that I’ve been looking to try is the Vita Liberata Self Tanner. Reviews have rated this one above the St. Tropez one, so I will let you know how I compare the two once I try it.
My next category would be face masks. I have recently fallen in love with Origins skincare products, so naturally their face masks are my new obsession. I love using the Active Charcoal Mask right out of the shower. Using a face mask right out of the shower guarantees the best results because your pores are open from the steam. After I wash off the Charcoal Mask, I like to use the Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask. This mask gives me the intense moisture my skin needs to feel rejuvenated and start glowing again. I have dry/combination skin, and this system works perfectly for me.
Lastly, I like to give myself a manicure and curl up with one of my favorite movies for a restful night in before any special occasion. My go-to neutral nail polish for events is Essie’s “Don’t Sweater It”, or I’ll paint my nails to go with whatever I’ll be wearing for the event. Another tip is, always paint your toenails. This might sound weird, I’ve thought, “I’ll have shoes on all night, no one will see my toes.” But more times than not, there is some occasion where your feet hurt, you’re changing or something happens when you’ll take off your shoes. And from these experiences I have learned to always paint my toenails, even if it’s a quick one coat deal, just please put some color on them, you’ll thank me later.
That about sums up my pamper routine for a special event! If you plan to use this for Valentine’s Day, I’d recommend doing it Thursday the 12th, or Friday the 13th. Maybe not Friday the 13th if you’re superstitious… But either way, 1-2 days beforehand is always a good plan of attack. And remember, a night of pampering is all about taking the time to relax and take care of yourself! Have a fabulous day!
xoxo,
The Blonde Brunette
