Hello loves! My apologies for not getting a post up yesterday. I tried out a new Pintrest recipie and it was an epic fail, and I didn’t have time to scramble together another one! But anyway, today is Good Friday, so I wanted to post a little something about the Easter holiday this Sunday. We all know the things that go along with Easter. Church, brunch, Easter egg hunt, the Easter bunny, and pastel colors. I feel like since our culture focuses mostly on the Easter that involves a huge egg hunt instead of the real reason for this holiday, we sometimes loose sight of what’s important and why we celebrate on this day. We celebrate because Christ rose from the dead, completing God’s will for Him and saving us all from our sins. Through His blood shed for us and His death on a cross, our sins are forgiven. “But God demenstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8 God loves each of us so much that He sent His one and only son to be crucified so that we might be saved. What a humbling and amazing gift. And that is why we celebrate, because on this day several thousand years ago, Christ was crucified and died and on Sunday, He rose again, giving us new life in Him. That is why we celebrate. So as we go through this Easter weekend, I encourage you to focus on the real celebration and what has been done for you. Have a fabulous weekend!

Rant or Rave: Too Faced Candlelight Glow Highlighting Powder Duo

Hello loves! Happy Monday! Today I have another Rant or Rave review for you on a new highlighter I’ve been trying out, the Too Faced Candlelight Highlighter. (That’s what we’re calling it, because the actual name is just too darn long.)

Personally, I’m a huge fan of dewy glowing skin that has a “your skin but better” kind of feel. I don’t have particularly oily skin, so I don’t really have a problem with looking too oily when I do choose to wear highlighter to give my skin a nice healthy glow. I’d been using a stick highlighter from Benifit that I got as a sample a long time ago called Watts Up? I liked the glow it gave me, but it was really difficult to apply over my face makeup without taking off or smearing what I had already applied. So I finally thought it was time to try something new. I’d heard a lot about the Too Faced Candlight Highlighter, and since I was so impressed with the tinted moisturizer which I did a review on (here). This highlighter comes in a compact with a mirror, which is super handy to have in your makeup bag, and comes in a powder from with 2 different shades on either side of the compact. I usually just mix the two colors together, but you could easily use them one at a time. One side has a more pink undertone, while the other side has more of a champagne undertone. You’ve probably guessed from the fact that I’ve had nothing bad to say so far that I am a fan of this product. Is it the best highlighter ever? The jury is still out on that one, but it is a good solid highlighter. It doesn’t have any glitter in it, which I like, because having glitter falling down your face during the day is never a fun time. I really do like the effect this gives me though, I feel like it makes me look a lot healthier and like I take super good care of my skin. I also love the fact that this is a powder because it makes it super easy to apply and blend in over my face makeup without ruining it. So overall, I would give this highlighter a rave review. It is a really good highlighter, I think I just had super high expectations because of all the hype around it, that it would make me look like a glowing goddess or something. I’ll give you another update in 2 weeks as a side note on my next review, so stay tuned for that!

{The one on the left is the lighter shade and the one on the right is the pinker shade.}

I hope you’ve found this review helpful, and stay tuned for another update in the upcoming weeks! Have a fabulous day!

Hello loves! Happy Friday! This week’s outfits of the week post is going to be a little different. I’m on vacation right now for spring break in Florida. So being on a beach vacation, I didn’t put together an outfit everyday. To give you all a total of five outfits, I asked my friend Jenna to help me out by sharing her outfits with you as well! And yes, we know we look like sisters… We get that a lot. For our shopping day, I’m just sharing my outfit because Jenna didn’t want to change into hers for a picture… It was late, I don’t blame her at all. On another sidenote, we also spent a day at Disney World, so enjoy our festive outfits from that day!

WIWW: Travel Outfit

Hello loves! I know this week isn’t usually a What I Wore Wednesday week, but since I was planning to do an outfit post today anyway, it fit! As promised today’s post is my travel outfit!

For any trip, I like to wear a lot of layers so that I can adjust to any temperature I may be in. I also try to wear my bulkiest coat that I plan on bringing to save space in my suitcase. For this trip I wore my J.Crew anorak jacket that is one of my wardrobe staples. Under that, I wore a super long J.Crew Factory striped T-shirt. I layer over top a burnt orange scarf that I’ve had for years from Banana Republic. I’m wearing my tried and true Under Armour leggings. I finished the look off with my white converse. My travel tote is my Kate Spade “Play The Field” bag. I’m not the most experienced traveler, but this outfit worked out super we’ll for me! Being comfortable and layering is the key to whatever you’re wearing. And I found that a tote was a great fashionable option for a carry-on. I hope you’ve enjoyed this post and found it helpful! Have a fabulous day!

Travel Essentials

Hello loves! Today I wanted to share with you my must-haves for travel. I’m currently on a trip, so this is what I actually packed on my carry on. Let’s jump in, shall we?

No. 1: My planner. I can’t go anywhere without my planner. It keeps me from missing important deadlines and keeps me organized and sane, so of course it comes on the plane with me.

No. 2: A Magazine. Having something non-electronic is nice, it gives your eyes a break from the glaring light and gives you something to do on the plane.

No. 3: iPad, Tablet, or Laptop. A 2+ hour flight is a great time to catch up on work, or some of your favorite blogs! it also keeps your electronics safe if you pack them with you on your carry on, verses having them in your checked bag.

No. 4: Sunglasses. You never know what the weather will be like where you land, and being greeted by blinding sunlight when you don’t have a pair of sunnies on hand isn’t the most fun. This also protects them from being bent or broken in your luggage.

No. 5: Blotting Papers. I carry these everywhere with me, they’re absolutely necessary for touch ups throughout the day. They take away the shiny look that sometimes shows up as the day goes on, without taking off or smudging your makeup. Seriously, it’s like magic.

No. 6: Compact. I carry my Clinique compact with me for any post flight touch-ups that I may need. Keeping your skin fresh gives off a pulled together look without much effort.

No. 7: Lip Balm. Your lips get chapped, it’s just a fact of life. Especially on flights since they recycle the air in the cabin, making it drier.

No. 8: Advil or Tylenol. If a headache hits you, you gotta be prepared! They sell travel sized bottles of both Advil and Tylenol, which are great to reuse in your purse.

No. 9: Hand Sanitizer. Airports are full of germs! And if you’re just feeling kind of gross, you’re prepared and you don’t have to use a gross airplane bathroom to clean your hands. (Which is always a plus.)

No. 10: Lotion. Again, much like the lip balm, you don’t want to be caught with painfully dry hands on a plane, it’s just not fun for anyone.

No.11: Gum. This helps your ears pop, which is so necessary for any flight. It’s also nice to have something on hand to freshen up your breath.

No. 12: Headphones. Your neighbor on the plane doesn’t want to hear your music, and you don’t want to hear the whiney kid ahead of you, so headphones it is.

No. 13: Perfume. When the stale cabin air is really getting to you, perfume is your savior. Even if you just smell it while on the plane, it helps a lot. It also is nice for freshening up after you land.

No. 14: Wallet and ID’s. This is a basic must have that you really ought to have with you for a successful trip and flight.

No. 15: Portable Charger. The savior of my constantly dying phone. For travel, it keeps your from being without a phone while traveling.

No. 16: Granola Bar. It’s always good to have a snack on hand so you aren’t forced to buy overpriced snacks on the plane, or if you miss a meal because of a time change.

No. 17: Chargers. You should have these on you incase your luggage is lost. There’s also sometimes an option to charge your electronics on the plane, so they’re nice to have on hand.

No. 18: Organizational Pouches. These are a more personal must for me. I love being organized, so being able to seperate and categorize all the little things I bring with me is so helpful, this also eliminates the bottomless pit situation in your bag. Here’s what everything looked like when packed into my set of Vera Bradley pouches.

Now, you’re probably wondering what I put all of this in. That would be my Kate Spade canvas tote, which you will see tomorrow in my travel outfit post. So tune back in to get a glimpse of that! Have a fabulous day!
