Rant or Rave: Too Faced Candlelight Glow Highlighting Powder Duo

Hello loves! Happy Monday! Today I have another Rant or Rave review for you on a new highlighter I’ve been trying out, the Too Faced Candlelight Highlighter. (That’s what we’re calling it, because the actual name is just too darn long.)

Personally, I’m a huge fan of dewy glowing skin that has a “your skin but better” kind of feel. I don’t have particularly oily skin, so I don’t really have a problem with looking too oily when I do choose to wear highlighter to give my skin a nice healthy glow. I’d been using a stick highlighter from Benifit that I got as a sample a long time ago called Watts Up? I liked the glow it gave me, but it was really difficult to apply over my face makeup without taking off or smearing what I had already applied. So I finally thought it was time to try something new. I’d heard a lot about the Too Faced Candlight Highlighter, and since I was so impressed with the tinted moisturizer which I did a review on (here). This highlighter comes in a compact with a mirror, which is super handy to have in your makeup bag, and comes in a powder from with 2 different shades on either side of the compact. I usually just mix the two colors together, but you could easily use them one at a time. One side has a more pink undertone, while the other side has more of a champagne undertone. You’ve probably guessed from the fact that I’ve had nothing bad to say so far that I am a fan of this product. Is it the best highlighter ever? The jury is still out on that one, but it is a good solid highlighter. It doesn’t have any glitter in it, which I like, because having glitter falling down your face during the day is never a fun time. I really do like the effect this gives me though, I feel like it makes me look a lot healthier and like I take super good care of my skin. I also love the fact that this is a powder because it makes it super easy to apply and blend in over my face makeup without ruining it. So overall, I would give this highlighter a rave review. It is a really good highlighter, I think I just had super high expectations because of all the hype around it, that it would make me look like a glowing goddess or something. I’ll give you another update in 2 weeks as a side note on my next review, so stay tuned for that!

I hope you’ve found this review helpful, and stay tuned for another update in the upcoming weeks! Have a fabulous day!

Rant or Rave: Too Faced Tinted Beauty Balm

Hello loves! Happy Monday! Today I wanted to bring to you another Rant or Rave review on a new product I’ve been trying out: the Too Faced Tinted Beauty Balm. A reader suggested I show swatches of these, so I will for this post, but for tinted moisturizer, it’s rather hard to do swatches because each person has a different skin tone and should be professionally matched at the store. That being said, let’s jump into this!

I received a sample of the Too Faced Tinted Beauty Balm when I was checking out at Sephora a couple months ago, and at first I honestly thought it was a hand lotion. Yeah… The only marking besides the little sheet they put in with samples of products was “Vanilla Glow”, and you can’t tell me that “Vanilla Glow” doesn’t sound like some sort of hand cream. But anyway, back to my first time trying it out. They put it in a little sample pot so I kind of had to just dab it in little dots on my face and then blend it in with my beauty blender. As I started blending it in I was happily surprised about how healthy it made my skin look. The color is almost exactly the same as my skin color, but for some reason, with just the light coverage from the balm my skin looked amazing. Having been impressed by the initial application, I was a little less skeptical, but I still held onto doubt of its overall lasting power. Again, I was pleasantly surprised. I didn’t have to blot really during the day. If I had time to, I could and it would make me look a little better, but it wasn’t a necessity. I didn’t look oily or cakey or like I was wearing the wrong shade, it was awesome. After a few days of using it I made the trip to Sephora and bought a full sized tube and haven’t looked back since. In comparison with my Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer, this one is a bit lighter, less oily, lasts longer, and doesn’t go completely matte with setting powder. Overall review: Rave.

Here’s what the packaging looks like, and once again, for reference, I use the shade “Vanilla Glow.”

And excuse the darkness of the picture of me wearing the Tinted Beauty Balm, I realized I probably should include a picture of me wearing it and this is what I had on hand! Have a fabulous day, and let me know if you like these reviews or find them helpful in the comments below!

Rant or Rave: Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush

Hello loves! I decided to kick off a new sort of series-ish on the blog: Rant or Rave. I am definitely one of those people who either loves or hates something, so this seemed like an appropriate title. That being said, I recently bought a LOT of new makeup, because I got sucked into the black hole called Sephora. *sigh* I tried to resist, I really did. So let me know if you like this, because I have a lot more reviews ready and waiting!

As you probably guessed by the title, we’re going to chat about the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush today. And spoiler alert, this is definitely a rave product. I cannot get over how natural it looks. People have honestly come up to me and told me I looked healthier since I started wearing this, which makes me wonder how ill I looked on a daily basis that they felt the need to say something. Nevertheless, I still enjoyed hearing that! I love this blush from many reasons, but one big reason is the fact that it stays on ALL DAY. Yes, it fades slightly, but makeup is kind of like old houses in that way, they settle throughout the day. So you just have to let them do their thing and hope for the best! And this blush is definitely the best. The glowing qualities in this blush give you a nice “I just ran a mile” kind of look that is killer. (Am I the only one who actually likes how my skin looks after a long run?) So this product gets a rave review from me!

I purchased the shade Diffused Heat, which is a deep pink color that they describe as a “vibrant poppy,” if that helps at all. The Ambient Lighting Blush comes in six different shades, which somehow have almost all skin tones covered. Which is wild, because this never happens. They have a great range of cool tones, warm tones, and a variety of dark to light. So if you’re in need of a new blush, I definitely recommend trying this one out! Have a fabulous day!
